7 MARCH 2027
A highly demanding race, with a runnable yet leg-breaking profile, as it is a constant up and down, with very muddy sections and others with short but steep climbs and descents. It is the flagship race of the Trail Ecoparque de Trasmiera, conceived for the most demanding competition. The course is brutal, passing through natural landscapes you would never have imagined before.
This race is included in the official calendar of the Federación Cántabra de Deportes de Montaña y Escalada (FCDME).
It has been designated as a scoring race in the circuit known as COPA-LÍNEA of the FCDME, so in addition to the race’s own rules, the regulations on said circuit that will be published by the Vocalía de Careras por Montaña of the said Federation must also be taken into account.
We are already finalising the definitive route, and in the days before the race we will publish the updated track. The changes are not very substantial compared with the route of routes from previous years. For now we are publishing the track from previous years recorded with Garmin, although it will not be fully available for training purposes because passing through private land will only be possible on race day.
The technical characteristics of the race will be:
FORMATS: Trail Running race
START TIME: 10 h.
Route summary:
Start at the Isla Playa sports court, next to the Colegio Hermanas Carmelitas de Isla, and finish at the Campo de San Sebastián in Isla Playa.
After the first 1.500 metres through the streets of Isla-Playa we reach the dyke of the Molino de Santa Olaja(Km. 2 approx.), the heart of the Ecoparque de Trasmiera that gives the Trail its name, which we will cross via the dyke and through the inside of the mill.
We cross the paths of the Marisma Joyel (Parque Natural de las Marismas de Santoña, Victoria y Joyel) and, after passing through the village of Soano, cross the CA-499 and head into the paths that lead us to Castillo, where we will find the first aid station (liquids km. 4,5) before the first short, sharp climb up to the Sierra del Molino del Viento (210 m.), and after descending it we reach the second aid station (Liquids. Km. 10,5 approx.). before tackling, around km. 12, another icon of the race: Monte Cincho (249 m.), a beautiful lookout over the Costa de Siete Villas, densely covered with Cantabrian holm oak, whose ascent will leave us gasping for breath. A breakneck descent, to reach the village of Isla in two km. over flat terrain and country tracks. Third aid station (Liquids and solids. Km. 15,5 approx.).
Then another climb, leaving behind the monumental Iglesia Parroquial de Isla, to descend along country tracks to the Ría de Castellanos and follow the coastal path of this estuary until we reach the Playa de la Arena. Here we will have the fourth aid station (Liquids. Km. 21 approx.).
From there we set off on the last section of about 6 km. along the spectacular coastal path of the Acantilados del Cabo de Quejo, with the fifth aid station (water km. 25 approx.), in a constant up and down, breathing in the salty sea air, until we reach the finish on the Playa de Isla, next to the lobster tanks.
Finish and finish-line aid station, liquids and solids.
If the weather is good, a swim after the race in the crystal-clear waters of Isla is guaranteed, while we wait for the race to close.
This race is included in the official calendar of the Federación Cántabra de Montaña y Escalada (hereinafter FCDME).
It will form part of the FCDME Line Mountain Running Cup, so, in addition to these race rules, the regulations on said championship approved by the FCDME must be taken into account.
Organised jointly by the Club “Somos Ecoparque” and the Ayuntamiento de Arnuero with the collaboration of various local companies, the race will run through emblematic places in the Municipality of Arnuero, over a route of approximately 28 km., starting at the Isla Playa sports court and finishing at the Campo San Sebastián in the same town.
It is a competitive race and, for ranking purposes, it is subject to the provisions of these rules in general, and to the FEDME regulations and other FCDME competition regulations for the purposes of any competitions for federated athletes for which it may be designated.
Participants who run without a bib or with a bib not registered in their name will not be covered by the benefits and insurance applied to this race. They are therefore considered to be outside the race and the organisers decline all responsibility in the event of an accident.
The race will take place on 7 March 2027, starting at 10:00 from the sports court in Barrio Quejo (Isla-Playa), Municipality of Arnuero.
The maximum number of registrations will be 500 participants. From this quota the Organisation will reserve a sufficient number of bibs to meet the organisation’s commitments and the requirements of the various competitions being held.
The race will cover a route of approximately 28 km, with an elevation gain of approximately 1.200 m. and a cumulative elevation of 2.400 m.
The provisional race route will be published in the “Route” section of the official race website: http://www.ecoparquetrail.com, where the updated track will also be published days before the race.
The race has a difficulty coefficient of 34 in accordance with the FEDME RULES for “km-elevation gain”.
For the purposes of the POPULAR RACE there will be an overall ranking including all participants, regardless of gender, category or subcategory, which will record the time taken by each of them in order of arrival.
In addition to this overall ranking, the following categories and subcategories are established:
MEN’S OVERALL, which will include all male participants, regardless of their age.
WOMEN’S OVERALL, which will include all female participants, regardless of their age.
Likewise, by age, the following SUBCATEGORIES are established:
VETERANA (V1) : between 40 and 49 years old for both sexes.
VETERANA DOS (V2): between 50 and 59 years old for both sexes.
VETERANA TRES (V3): from 60 years old for both sexes.
In the subcategories a minimum of four competitors will be required, so below that number the ORGANISATION reserves the right not to hold an awards ceremony for them.
In matters not covered by these internal Rules, the FEDME regulations and the FCDME competition Rules will apply.
The general registration period ends on 20 February 2026 or once the maximum number of bibs set by the Organisation (500) has been reached.
Registrations may be made after this period until 27 February, but they will carry a surcharge on the normal registration fee, and late registrants will not be able to choose the sizes of the gift garments.
Under no circumstances will registration be possible on race day.
Registration can be made in the following ways:
Bib collection will be in person, and presenting your DNI is ESSENTIAL. Bibs may be collected on race day, at the venue set up for this purpose, from 8 o’clock until 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. In addition, an additional collection point may be set up on the days before, of which registered runners will be duly informed.
General registration for the race entitles you to take part in the race with a chip bib for timing, aid stations, sports insurance, assistance during the race, a race pack with a gift sports garment or similar, and entitlement to the trophies and prizes provided for in these Rules.
It also entitles you to be part of the race podium, receive the prizes established and take part with your bib number in the draws for prizes and gifts donated by the organisation’s collaborators.
GENERAL REGISTRATION: From opening until 20 February
Price 24,00 euros.
LATE REGISTRATION: From 21 February to 27 February
Price 28,00 euros.
Note: For late registrations, the availability of the chosen size for the gift sports garment is not guaranteed.
In both cases, non-federated runners must obtain the FCDME Day Licence by paying the stipulated fee.
REFUND POLICY.
The organisers undertake to refund completed registrations, with a deduction of 4€ for administration costs, provided there is a justified reason (injury or other unforeseen family or work-related impediments) and provided the request is made before 20 February. After that date no refunds will be accepted nor will any amount be paid for that reason.
Bib transfers to another runner will also be made at any time within the registration period, that is, until 27 February, the day on which registration will close completely and the individual accident insurance will be taken out for the bib holders. For this reason no further changes will be possible.
With regard to any sports garments purchased together with the registration, their cost will not be refunded under any circumstances, and the garment in question will be made available to the buyer.
OTHER SERVICES
- Sponsored sports garments at a special price, as set out on the race website.
- Race pack with a gift sports garment and other possible gifts obtained by the organisers from collaborators.
- Post-race meal
- Entry into draws for products or services from collaborators.
The route will be duly signposted with markers specific to this type of race that are easily recognisable, and with identifying marks along the entire route. The Organisation will set up several intermediate checkpoints, manual or mechanical, through which runners must have passed, on pain of disqualification.
At least one checkpoint with time recording will be set up. It will be located in the historic centre of Isla, approximately halfway along the race route (near the 2nd aid station located at km. 14 approx.). This checkpoint and aid station will close at 12:30, so runners must pass through this point no more than 2:30 hours after the start.
Participants who reach this point after it has closed will be disqualified and must hand over their bib to the members of the organisation acting as race sweepers or to one of the aid station or crossing volunteers; the decision to continue along the route will be at their own risk, and they will not be covered by the cover the Organisation offers to all participants.
A maximum race time of 4,30 hours is established, so the Finish control and the race as a sporting event will be closed at 14:30, and all participants arriving later will be disqualified.
The Organisation will have a group of volunteers acting as race sweepers. This group will cover the route starting at the very back of the field, a position they will maintain at all times, trying to adjust their pace so as to arrive just before the cut-off times expire, both the intermediate point time and the maximum race time. Participants who, despite warnings from the sweeper group, are overtaken by it will be disqualified and must hand over their bib to them, and whatever may happen if they continue along the route will be at their own risk.
As part of the signage and course marking system, the organisers will set kilometre markers along the route, at least every 2 km., unless the corresponding spot is in a natural area of high value where such signage would not be appropriate.
This is a semi-self-sufficient race, so four aid stations will be set up along the route: three of them liquids only (km. 5, 9 and 21 approx.) and one solids and liquids (km. 14 approx.). There will also be an additional water point in the Cabo Quejo area
In addition, there will be an aid station at the finish, with solids and liquids.
During the rest of the route participants must be self-sufficient; they may carry with them whatever nutrition and hydration products they consider appropriate, but they may not receive any supplies outside the aid stations from anyone not belonging to the Organisation.
The winners and those finishing in second and third place, both in the overall ranking and in the different categories, will receive a trophy or medal.
In addition, various non-cash prizes, offered and sponsored by the race’s collaborating companies/associations, will be presented among the participants.
The awards ceremony will take place at 14,30 hours, and the winners of the different trophies must be present at said ceremony.
In addition to those who breach the race regulations, the Organisation will disqualify anyone who:
- Does not complete the entire route
- Does not pass through the start and route checkpoints
- Tampering with the bib or not wearing it clearly visible on the front.
- Receiving outside assistance away from authorised places (aid stations, from about 100m before to 100m, after).
- Littering or damaging the surroundings of the route (NOT disposing of waste in the places provided by the organisation for this purpose).
- Not helping any participant and informing the nearest checkpoint.
- Not following the instructions and guidelines of the members of the organisation and checkpoint staff.
- Intentionally obstructing another runner.
The organisers may, if necessary, withdraw any person who is not in normal physical or mental condition.
If you withdraw from the race, you must inform any member of the organisation and hand over your bib.
The terrain on which this sporting event takes place is of enormous ecological importance, so we must respect it; it is vitally important to dispose of rubbish and waste in the places provided for this purpose, which will be located near the aid stations.
Bad weather is no obstacle to holding this race, unless there are extreme weather conditions in which participation would pose a clear risk to the safety of the participants.
The organisers reserve the right to make any appropriate changes and/or propose an alternative route to the one initially marked, if they deem it advisable for various reasons of clear importance, as well as to cancel the race if weather conditions require it or due to force majeure.
It is advisable to carry a hydration kit (water bottle or flask), as well as a cap, a waterproof jacket and trail shoes.
The organisers are not responsible for any accidents that may occur during the race, nor for the belongings of each participant.
The organisers will have communication and emergency services from civil protection and appropriate medical transport, as well as a group insurance policy, but decline all responsibility for any damage that may be caused to or by participants, who agree to take part in the race freely and under their own full responsibility.
In case of doubt, the decision of the organisers will prevail.
By registering, every participant accepts the conditions of these rules and releases the organisers from all liability in the event of accident or injury, as well as from any eventuality that may arise from participation in the race.
If the organisers are forced to do so, these rules may be amended. However, any amendment will be duly communicated to participants.
Completing the registration constitutes acknowledgement of agreement with these rules and with the liability waiver attached as an annex to them.
The occurrence of unforeseeable circumstances, health-related or of any other kind, will lead to the amendment and adaptation of these rules in order to adequately cover such eventualities. To this end, the specific rules for any such cases that may arise will be established and updated by the Organisation in collaboration with the FCDME, and participants will be notified of them by email and on the race website and will be required to sign the commitment to accept said rules, either expressly when collecting their bib, or as tacit acceptance by the mere fact of taking part.
The image rights arising from participation in any of the races or formats organised under the name Trail Ecoparque de Trasmiera GP de Isla will belong exclusively to the race Organisation, which means that it may use them as it sees fit, provided it does not infringe the participant’s right to privacy. To this end, participants, by the mere fact of signing the registration form, assign their image, photographic and audiovisual rights, which may be used by the Organisation for the race’s own publicity.
Furthermore, any use of them by any company or private individual must be permitted and/or acknowledged by the Organisation itself. Likewise, registered runners will authorise their name to appear in a list of participants, results lists, tracking system and any other medium the organisers determine for the proper running of the event published on the official race website.
Runners registered in the Trail Ecoparque de Trasmiera – Gran Premio de Isla acknowledge that their participation in the event is voluntary and under their own responsibility. Therefore, the organisers, collaborators, sponsors and other participants are exempt from any civil liability.
All participants, by the mere fact of signing the registration form, declare that they accept and sign the Liability Waiver.
